Abilities

Abilities are special character actions available from MyProfile → Abilities in-world and the Abilities panel on the companion web dashboard.

Ability What it does
Transmute (Shift) Switch between forms you have learned. See Form shapeshifters for how appearance differs from your real biology.
Bite Bite a nearby character, reducing their health and defense and sampling their blood.

Your species, form, and class determine eligibility under rules configured for the experience. You cannot grant yourself an ability through a setting. The in-world menu only offers abilities you currently qualify for.

Rules for your exact species take precedence over general rules for the same ability. If your species has its own rules, you must qualify under those rules; the general rules do not provide a fallback. Hybrid ancestry does not automatically give you a parent species’ abilities.

Each ability is checked separately. If your species has several rules for an ability, meeting any one is enough. A rule that specifies both form and class requires both to match. Without a configured grant, an ability is unavailable.

Physical abilities such as Bite follow your active form. A disguise may give you access to Bite or remove it while you wear that form. Your ability to Shift is checked against your base character, so changing form does not remove your ability to change back.

Having Transmute does not mean you already know alternate forms. You still need to acquire them.

  1. Choose Bite from the in-world menu or dashboard.
  2. Select another active, unblocked character in the same region, seen within the last five minutes and no more than 10 metres away.
  3. The target loses 5 percentage points of health and 10 percentage points of defense, down to a minimum of zero. For example, 60% health becomes 55%. You receive 1 ml of their blood through your mouth into your stomach, described by its flavor.

The target receives a notification describing the bite and its effects. A repeated notification does not apply the bite again. If the target moves out of range, changes characters, or is no longer available, you must search again. Your eligibility is checked again when you select the target.
